CLOSED FOR THE SUMMER!!!

The TRI-POD Blog is currently closed for the summer. You can still use this as a resource for Temple Graduate Housing - finding the number for Comcast or looking up the Grad Housing Rights, Rules and Responsibilities guide. There just won't be any more updates until we have a new group of residents moving in beginning August 1.

Feel free to contact us at tugradhousing@gmail or at your particular complex:
Triangle - 215-204-5165
Podiatry - 215-625-5446

Happy New Year!!!!

Welcome to 2011 all you lucky graduate students. As we move into the new decade (unless you are in the camp that thinks it started in 2010 - more power to you) we hope for good tidings and wonderful experiences. In that vein we will be unveiling a calendar of events for the spring semester within the next few weeks. In addition, we'll be requesting that all residents wishing to attend said events pay in advance, as we had a couple of "unfortunate incidents," with un-collected tickets in 2010.

As always, please continue to send us your feedback on ways we can improve your experience living with us in Graduate Housing.

Have a wonderful and exciting New Year!

Cheers,
RD Will

Comcast upgrade info

All,

Hi. The news that many of you have been waiting for is finally here: you can now choose to upgrade your comcast cable box to include more channels, HBO or even an HD box.

If you'd like to upgrade, please call Comcast at: 215-992-2712 or 1-888-282-3154. Then tell them you'd like to upgrade your account.

From that point on you'll be setting up your own account with Comcast, meaning that they'll bill you and bring out the upgraded service box. It also means that if you change apartments or move out you'll need to let Comcast know.

Here's the specifics

You'll want to look specifically at the "Monthly A La Carte Cable Services" and the "Monthly Premium Services" area.

Also, we may be upgrading the cable options in the TV Lounges to include HD and possibly movie channels in the near future.

Let us know if you have questions!

Cheers,
Will

On not breaking things - like refrigerators and air conditioners

All,

Quick tips, in case you didn't know:

1. Running your refrigerator/freezer at the coldest temperature setting for long periods of time can actually break the unit. Yes, it will actually freeze up! The motor and chilling coils will actually freeze and break the refrigerator/freezer.

a. Proper setting is about halfway on the dial in your unit – if the dial goes 1-5, set it to 3. If the dial goes 1-9, set it to 5 or 6. This way you chill the food but not the motor.

2. The other thing that can freeze is your air conditioner. While we’ve had a very warm summer here in Philly, as the weather starts to cool down, it’s important to adjust the temperature setting on the A/C unit. Much in the same way a refrigerator chills, so does the A/C, and if you leave it at the coldest setting when it cools down outside, the motor inside will freeze.

a. It’s best to set it between 68-72 if you prefer a cooler experience. Anything lower should only be run for short period of time, otherwise you may be soon calling the office and asking for a new A/C unit.

Today's tips are brought to you by the letters A & C, the number 62 and the color ice blue.

RD Will
